Baptism is the first of three Sacraments of Initiation, which make one a member of the Church. In the sacrament of Baptism, original sin is washed away as the individual is cleansed by the holy water, receives the light of Christ, and is anointed with the holy oil. Baptism is not the end of the Christian life, but just the beginning. Parents and godparents must continue to help the newly baptized grow in relationship with Christ and faith the rest of his or her life. Baptism orients a person to Christ for the rest of his or her life and marks the soul with an indelible imprint.
If interested in having an infant baptized, please contact the parish office three months before the baby is due. One instructional class is required. Infant instructional classes are offered quarterly and baptisms for infants and children occur once a month. Please see the schedule below. Adult baptisms are conducted after the individual goes through a yearlong series of adult initiation classes.
